Basic rules for everyone in the Netherlands: If you If you have symptoms, get tested as soon as possible and stay at home (click on link to activate for more information).

Keep a social distance of 1.5mtrs minimum to others at all times. This applies to everyone over 18,  including your colleagues. Wash your hands often at least 20 seconds.

Cough and sneeze into your elbow. Avoid busy places and travel outside peak hours if possible.

If you have been in close proximity of more than 15 minutes with another person and/or with a distance less than 1.5mtrs, you increase the chances to get infected and harm your colleagues.

This applies to everyone over the age of 18: in the street, in shops and other buildings and at work – even if you are a key person. It does not apply to family members or other people that you live with. And it does not apply if you are providing assistance to someone, for example pushing a wheelchair.

Quarantine after a positive test without symptoms:

You can develop symptoms 3 days after the test, so watch your health closely.

You must stay home in isolation for 72 hours (3 days) after getting tested, because you could be contagious to others. The other people in your household also need to stay at home, because they may have been infected by you. This prevents them from infecting others.

You may go out of isolation immediately if you have not developed any symptoms that could indicate COVID-19 within 72 hours (3 days) after taking the test. The Municipal Public Health Service (GGD) will discuss with you when this is.

If you do develop symptoms within those 72 hours (3 days) after taking the test, you will have to stay in home isolation for longer. Your household members will also have to remain in home quarantine until 10 days after their last contact with you, that involved a risk of infection. The GGD will tell you more about this.

If you become seriously ill or if you require medical assistance: Do not go to your GP or visit the hospital. Instead, call your GP or the out-of-hours medical centre. When you need assistance call DHSS (see for contact details above # 3)

When this test is positive, you stay in isolation/quarantine, do not leave the location you are at. If you are seriously ill, call your doctor or the out-of-hours GP service (‘huisartsenpost’) immediately. In a life-threatening situation, always call 112.

7

Quarantine or isolation?

If you have symptoms that could indicate COVID-19, or if you have been tested and the result of your test was positive for COVID-19, then you must go into isolation. This means staying home so that you do not spread the virus to others. Read more about what to do if you need to go into isolation because you have COVID-19. (click on link to activate for more information)

Quarantine is a precautionary measure: You are not ill, but you have been in contact with someone who is infected with COVID-19 (or might be infected). So you stay home/on board the vessel for 10 days in isolation.

Once you are allowed to leave your house again, follow the general coronavirus measures. Visit www.government.nl for more information
